May 16, 2009 Kyiv - Germanwings, 100 % Lufthansa affiliated company, carried out the first flight from Cologne to Kyiv.
GWI 274/275 successfully landed at Boryspil International Airport on Saturday, May 16, at 2.50 p.m.The airport officials, representatives of Germanwings and the Embassy of Germany in Ukraine congratulated crew and passengers of the first flight on opening a new low-cost route from Ukraine to Europe. 
“We are glad to welcome successful low-cost carriers. LCCs minimize all expenses, except for those related to safety and security. This is very important both for passengers and for the airport. We hope that Germanwings will shortly increase passenger traffic volumes and number of routes”,– said Borys Shahsuvarov, General Director of Boryspil International Airport. Germanwings offers to buy tickets for flights Kyiv – Cologne and Cologne – Kyiv from 19.99€, including taxes. The flight schedule for Ukraine includes three flights on the route Cologne-Kyiv-Cologne weekly. |
